LICK my limiting beliefs Goodbye

Yannori

Love * Inspiration * Clarity * Kink

LOVE

The LA Times Festival of Books (I’ll be Twittering from the festival on April 25th) Dr. Paul Ekman the inspiration for the FOX show “Lie To Me” anything edited or written by Susie Bright writing & pole dancing for a living my upcoming performance at Lady Banditas on May 1 Annie’s Mac’n'Cheese with Yogurt You’re Not Sorry (CSI remix) by Taylor Swift Taylor Swift - You're Not Sorry (CSI Remix) - Single

And this! - Do you want to be the next Julie Andrews in the Belgium version of The Sound To Music?  All of these people do!

INSPIRATION

Check out this curious program that I found at www.ReCreateYourLife.com.  I’m using it to improve my self-confidence and motivation. It shows you how to get rid of limiting beliefs! Seriously, try one of these videos for yourself.  You only have to provide your email and they definitely don’t send spam.  You can eliminate four beliefs for FREE, for example “I’m not good enough” and “Mistakes & failure are bad“.

Initially it seems too simplistic to work, but it really did work for me.  I’m actually amazed at how different I feel. These guys believe that once you get rid of limiting beliefs, your life will open up to new possibilities and radical changes. They’ve even got a three month payment plan and a money back guarantee.   I know its a little weird but just go already!

CLARITY

Liquid Story Binder - I first began using this software to write short stories & novels. Then, I discovered that it’s perfect for organizing the details of magazine articles, blog posts ideas, and writing classes I use it all day every day. I can even add the photos and music that inspire me to write about each story.  If you’re a writer that uses a PC and you have a tendency to work on 5 to 20 projects at once (like me), this is an inexpensive way to keep track of your work.

KINK

  • I met a jewelry designer the other day who said he could make me a Purple Titanium Pole!  Should I go for it?
  • Head Mounted Water Cannon – I discovered this item in MAKE Magazine and I could barely believe my eyes.  The magazine is always full of the weirdest stuff I’ve ever seen and every article includes directions on how you can build each item (Just like MacGyver).

People who deliberate fully before they take a step will spend their lives on one leg. — Anthony de Mello

Permission to Wander

Yannori

A Personal Story

When I was in high school, my friends and I used to pile into the car on Friday nights and deliberately try to get lost. We would simply choose a freeway, drive until we didn’t recognize any of the street names, and then get off at a random exit. Then we’d either drive around some dark small town telling ghost stories or try to figure out why people were always moving their sofas in the middle of the night. (I swear we saw somebody moving furniture at least once a month) Eventually we’d stop at a well-lit greasy spoon for a midnight snack and ask around for directions back to the freeway.

Basically, it was a cheap form of entertainment (back when gas was only 99cents a gallon). But, years later, I realized those “cheap” Friday night trips had taught me to enjoy wandering and the process of discovery.

Back then, that old beater car didn’t have power steering, let alone an internal Bluetooth cell phone, on-star, or GPS Navigation. But instead of feeling afraid that I might get lost, I always felt excited to see some new town (under the moonlight of course). Instead of worrying about what time I might get home, I looked forward to finding a new place to get great midnight pancakes.  A place that I might never find again once the sun came up.

As a group, we spent the drive sharing experiences, learning from each others mistakes, and laughing at our ridiculous love lives. Every outing had a simple purpose, to find adventure in the ordinary and to find ourselves on a late night drive.

Simple Pleasures

As we get older, sometimes we forget to take the time to wander. We’re always trying to keep up with the neighbors or whatever the media tells us our neighbors are like, instead of taking the time to discover what simple pleasures we really enjoy in life.

Its worthwhile to wander, to get a little lost in life, try new directions, share life lessons with your friends, and laugh together.

What have you got to loose, except a little sleep on a Friday night? More importantly, consider what you have to gain. You might learn to face some of your fears, like laughing off a scary ghost story while lost in an unknown town or asking a stranger for directions. You might discover how amazing your friends really are, or at least which one has the best dating advice. You might even realize that you want to walk a different path than everybody else.

I discovered that I don’t like syrup on my pancakes (just fresh strawberries), and I hate moving furniture in the middle of the night. I also discovered that I loved telling ghost stories and trying to understand why normal people did crazy things… which has lead me to what I love doing now, exploring personal growth and fiction writing.

Tonight, give yourself permission to wander and remember the joy of personal discovery. Because finding your new path could be as easy as taking a drive for midnight pancakes.

How playful is your process of discover? Do you like midnight pancakes? Share your ideas in the comment section!

Embracing Feminine Power

Yannori

Penis Envy, Pshaw!

This week has been a series of lessons about learning to respond to life as a woman, instead of a woman trying to keep up with the men in her life. After over 25 years in the “corporate” world, I’ve finally discovered that I don’t have to prove to my boss that my… ahem… member…. is bigger than his. I always thought that the only way to communicate with the difficult men in my life was to speak to them from their own level.

I spent many years perfecting my ability to erase my femininity at work and replace it with a masculine facade that would give me the respect I deserved. Sadly, it worked! Every man responded to me as he would another man, and I began the fight up the corporate ladder.

The Wrong Perspective

And yet, I found that I still seemed to falter behind my male coworkers who put in less effort, less passion, and less personal investment in their projects. Over time it became harder and harder to keep my masculine facade in place and I regularly got sick or needed to go home and just cry at my own ineptitude.

But, finally I realized that I would always be less inept than my male coworkers at being a man… because I’M A WOMAN. Not only that, but I also recognized that looking to my boss or my male coworkers for validation of my ability to be successful is a complete waste of time simply because their definition of success is based on the male viewpoint.

A Quest For The Princess

“I’m lost. I’ve gone to look for myself. If I return before I get back, please ask me to wait”

–author unknown

But now what? How can I act like a woman at work after acting like a man for the last 25 years?

Well, believe it or not, I’m not the only woman to have discovered this particular problem over the years and each woman I found had a different way of utilizing this discovery. Some decided that the corporate ladder simply wasn’t a place where they could reach their aspirations as a woman and found motherhood and family life as the best route to true happiness. Some used their feminine wiles to create a job that could accent more of their skills as a woman instead of as a man.

Finally, a good friend recommended The Princessa : Machiavelli for Women by Harriet Rubin which explains how, as woman, we can use our femininity to change, not only the rules of business, but the entire game to our advantage.

Girls, Be All That You Can Be!

Through all of these options, one thing stands out, you must accept yourself as a woman and just let the men be men. Most of them will be so happy that you aren’t trying to prove that your phantom member is a big as theirs, that they’ll fall over themselves trying to help with your agenda.

You’ll discover that even in chaos your authentic feminine nature and personal strengths will always shine.

All you have to do is stop trying to be more than the man next to you, and instead just BE the amazing woman that you already are, with all your beauty, with all your emotions, and with all your feminine power.
